Snap the Ball, and Your Rival’s Bones, in PS3 Madden 10

With a high-intensity soundtrack, PS3 Madden 10 players will get even more for their gaming dollar. The past few years have seen the soundtracks becoming an integral facet of the games, and Madden is leading the pack. PS3 Madden 10's soundtrack brings the right level of intensity, as well as a great mix of newer and older songs ("older" being a relative term here, of course). One gander at the song lineup should induce and impress: "Can't C Me" by 2Pac, "Heads are Gonna Roll" by Airbourne, "Them Bones" by Alice in Chains, "Created a Monster" by B.o.B, "Revolution" by Bang Camaro, "Sabotage" by Beastie Boys, "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath, "Get 'Em Up" by Cypress Hill, "Unsung" by Helmet, "Aces High" by Iron Maiden, "Painkiller" by Judas Priest, "I Am the Bullgod" by Kid Rock, "Reckoning" by Killswitch Engage, "Blind" by Korn, "Divinations" by Mastodon, "Hate Me Now" by Nas featuring Puff Daddy, "Breed" by Nirvana, "Walk" by Pantera, "Shut 'Em Down" by Public Enemy, "Guerrilla Radio" by Rage Against the Machine, "Gaia Bleeds (Make Way for Man)" by Set Your Goals, "Duality" by Slipknot, "Sugar" by System of a Down, "Before I Die" by The Vanity Plan," and "Cheah Beah" by Young Dre The Truth.

If all those features and upgrades haven't convinced you that PS3 Madden 10 is a masterpiece, then perhaps a trip through the sports video game timeline will. Maybe it's an obtuse comparison, lavishing platitudes on PS3 Madden 10, just because it blows every past video football game out of the water. Once you've given the older football video games the once-over, you can grasp why people are drooling over PS3 Madden 10. At the dawn of video game consoles, one of the top requests from every hardcore gamer was a football video game for their system, naturally. Only thing was, video game consoles and cartridges didn't have the capabilities to match the needs of the typical hardcore gamer, so everyone had to take what they could get. To try to generate excitement, the creators of this one insisted it featured "all the excitement" of actual football. Competition was nonexistent, so this one was a huge hit for the biggest video game console in the day.

Those guys on the playing field sure couldn't pass for actual football players. That's just a harsh fact. You can tell by the image that the game wasn't much, but that's only the half of it. Put too many characters on screen at once with these older games, and every character started flashing and flickering. The sound effects were just brutal. No scrolling screen, either. Within a couple years, things would pick up slightly, with a competing console developing a football video game. This next one was a valiant attempt to make a more realistic football video game. Still needed work, though.

That one caused a huge sensation upon its arrival to the video game world, and while it set a (slightly) higher standard, this wasn't the foundation for football video games to be built on. That wouldn't come until several years down the line. This next one reaped the benefits of the 8-bit gaming revolution, and people still rave about it to this day. For a long time, it was the gold standard by which football video games were held.

It's certainly easy to see why that one was a hit - the gameplay was far more sophisticated, incorporating actual offensive and defensive strategies. Everything - sound, visuals - got such a major upgrade that this was the final word in sports video games. It's even got a presence in the gaming world today, thanks to its online comeback. But even that one can't compete with PS3 Madden 10. When you've seen all the rest, now take a look at the best. Yes, technology has been good to the video game world in general, and the football video game has benefitted from it all. But there's no purpose in ragging on the early games. No need to beat a dead horse. Those games did what needed to be done, and we have them to thank, indirectly, for PS3 Madden 10. PS3 Madden 10 is in a whole different stratosphere than its predecessors, and for that, hardcore gamers have every reason to be stoked. And of course, the critics are equally enthusiastic about PS3 Madden 10, which is even more good news for fans of the franchise. Comments like "realistic and enjoyable" pepper each PS3 Madden 10 review. Once again, EA Sports makes a win with PS3 Madden 10 - was there any doubt?

No doubt, PS3 Madden 10 is the real sport of champions, and don't let some douchebag tell you otherwise. Sure, we love all PlayStation sports video games, but PS3 Madden 10 stands at the top, as one of the best. For many, this is the PlayStation football game by which all others are measured. This is the game for the real men, not just the little kids, when you go toe-to-toe for some serious money. PlayStation Madden 10 maniacs have the opportunity to challenge each other for some serious cash. You'll be making touchdowns, and nabbing your foe's money, after you've educated yourself in all things Madden 10.
